Seodaemun Museum of Natural History is Korea's first natural history museum, located in Seodaemun district, Seoul, and completed in 2003. The museum houses over 3,000 historical relics and more than 100 precious artifacts. It is divided into the Human and Nature Hall, the Evolution of Life Hall, and the Earth Environment Hall, showcasing information on geology, biological species, the Earth's origin, and the current state of the Korean Peninsula. Jeju Folklore and Natural History Museum is located in the southeast of the old town of Jeju City and opened in 1984. The museum is divided into a natural history exhibition hall, a folklore exhibition hall, and an outdoor exhibition area, displaying the ecology of Jeju Island, models of traditional houses, replicas of traditional foods, tools used by women divers, farming equipment, etc. Inside the museum, there is a huge skeleton specimen of a baleen whale, approximately 13 meters long and weighing about 12 tons, regarded as the 'star visitor' of the museum. The museum is situated in a garden, with numerous volcanic rock specimens displayed outdoors, and a wooden general's statue standing in front of the entrance, showcasing unique cultural and natural charm.
