It's very close between Vik and Vatnajökull, I remember it took us one to two hours by driving on route 1, because we didn't determine the exact time as we kept stopping and walking in the middle, but it's definitely much closer than 5 hours. Did you mean Vatnajökull Ice Cave ? Iceland Q&A
Hello everyone, we plan to self-drive near Banff from October 2 to 4. I would like to ask: 1) Can we park on the side of the road anywhere we want? 2) Can we go back and forth from Canmore to Jasper on the same day? The main purpose is to see the scenic views along the Icefields Parkway. Thank you ? Canada Q&A
Just asking everyone. I was in Reykjavik in early October and just found out that it was not until around 7:40 am that it got light. If I leave the Glacier Lagoon at 6 am and drive back to Reykjavik, is it dangerous? Is the visibility sufficient ? Iceland Q&A
Can I book for the Glacier Gate? When booking, do I need to select a time? Can I enter the glacier directly if I arrive on time? What should I do if I miss it? Can I reschedule if the weather is bad on the day ? Canada Q&A
We are currently in Húsavík and Hofn, with winds of about 40km/h. We reserved a boat ticket to the ice lagoon at noon, but the small cabin in front suggested cancelling the trip due to the weather (not planning to accommodate tourists). Do you still plan to continue your journey north? Are there any friends on the same road? How do you plan to deal with it ? Iceland Q&A
What activities have you all decided on? I have just booked the Franz Josef Glacier on September 29th. Are there any of you who would like to join me? There is also a jet boat, kayak and forest walk in Paradise, which is very popular during the National Day period. I searched several websites before I was able to book it. Those of you who need it should book it as soon as possible ? New Zealand Q&A
Have any of your friends who bought tickets on Icelandair through Qunar.com encountered any issues? I bought a ticket that included checked baggage, but a friend in the group once reported that the baggage counter at Qunar didn't recognize it. Today, I contacted customer service and provided the itinerary from the airline, but it didn't show any baggage. The cabin was economy, so I'm guessing it might be economy light. I don't think it's very reliable, so I went to Icelandair's official website and searched using my ticket code and name. It turns out that my order didn't include checked baggage at all. I'm still communicating with customer service now and wondering if any of you have encountered similar situations ? Iceland Q&A
Could you guys please help? Three of us are going to Iceland in early February for 8-9 days, and plan to visit Vik black sand beach, glacier lagoon, golden circle, grass hat mountain, Reykjavik. We are all "old hands" and of course prefer Road trip. The problem is that we have no experience driving on icy roads, and we are worried that we may not be able to handle the road conditions in bad weather. Could you guys please tell us whether we should give up Road trip? If we don't give up, what safety measures should we take ? Iceland Q&A
F26 has been given up, thank you all, but we still have to go the No. 1 highway. Leave from the Glacier Lake at noon and stay in Husavik at night. I also admit to walking at night. Unfortunately, there is no time. I want to experience the interior highway on the last day, from Akureyri to the Golden Waterfall and Geysir on F35, and stay in Reykjavik at night. I just don't know if F35 will still be open at that time ? Iceland Q&A
Thanks, I'm driving. I saw the dotted line in Jasper National Park on the route map and thought small cars couldn't go in. It turns out they can. I wonder how long the queues are for the glacier and cable car. Do I need to book in advance? ? Canada Q&A
Can anyone please advise us on a Road trip from Calgary to Vancouver at the end of October? We will mainly visit Banff and Jasper, and the total trip duration will be 5 days. First, we would like to know if the scenery of the two national parks is similar and both are necessary to visit. Second, we are concerned about the driving safety in snowy weather based on the current weather forecast in the area. Although we have a long driving history, we have never driven on icy roads. We would appreciate any advice. Thank you ? Canada Q&A
