Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербург), established in 1703 on the marshland at the deepest point of the Gulf of Finland, showcases Peter the Great's ambition in its architectural style and natural landscapes. In the past 300 years, the city has undergone several name changes, from Leningrad to Petrograd, and now Saint Petersburg.
