Daishan Island, also known as Penglai Fairy Island, is a small island dotted like lotus flowers on the vast East China Sea. Its features include seawater, beaches, reefs, seafood, and fishing fires. Lulan Qingsha Scenic Area is named after the Lulan Mountain located in the northern part of Daishan Island. It is 14 kilometers away from Gaoting Town, the county seat. The scenic area consists of Lulan Qingsha Beach, Xufu Pavilion, Niluo Mountain, Qingsha Ocean Park, and a planned tourist resort. The main activities in this area are water sports, beach activities, amusement, and vacationing. The beach is 3.6 kilometers long, with a width of 150 meters in the east-west direction and over 200 meters in the flooded area. It is the longest beach along the coast of Jiangsu and Zhejiang. The sand is fine and slightly hard, containing various minerals, and has certain therapeutic effects on skin diseases. Cars can drive on the beach, hence the nickname "Ten Thousand Steps Iron Plate Sand." The beach is surrounded by beautiful peaks, with the Niluo Mountain in the middle and different kinds of reefs around. In the vicinity, there is a reef called "Cockscomb Reef" due to its resemblance to a rooster's comb. In the early morning, standing on the beach and looking through the "Cockscomb Reef," you can watch the sunrise over the East China Sea, with a magnificent scene of colorful clouds, creating a unique beauty. In the Qing Dynasty, the poet Liu Menglan praised it in a poem, saying, "The flat beach surrounds the sea corner, Lulan Mountain underneath is also renowned. With the white ground and bright brocade, it depicts a scene of wild geese in the Xiao and Xiang Rivers."
