If you can only visit one attraction in Cappadocia, you must go to the Goreme Open Air Museum. This is Turkey's world cultural heritage, a group of buildings built on natural geological foundations, including cave churches, chapels and monasteries. The open-air museum is located in a steep valley, containing the natural, historical and cultural elements of Cappadocia, and bringing together more than 30 differently sized cave churches. These churches were originally built by Christians who fled from political persecution and migrated to Cappadocia. They were built by carving into the mountain, and the interior is decorated with colorful murals, which are very exciting. Some of the more famous churches include the Apple Church, St. Barbara Church, Snake Church, Dark Church, Buckle Church, El Nazar Church, Sandals Church, and Sakli Church.

The name of Rose Valley vividly depicts the distant scene of the valley. Streams, floods, and frost cause rocks to crack, and the softer parts are eroded away, forming a unique lunar-like landscape. There are many cone-shaped, pyramid-shaped, and spire-shaped wonders in the valley, some of which are called "fairy chimneys": the wind blows through the valley, and sand comes rushing towards you, making you feel insignificant and marvel at the fleeting nature of things.

The most important monument in Konya is the mausoleum of Mevlana Jalal ed-Din Muhammad Rumi. Rumi was a famous Sufi poet and the founder of the Mevlevi Sufi Order in the Middle Ages. He was born in Balkh, Khurasan (now Tajikistan), but fled to Anatolia to avoid the Mongol invasions. Later, he was invited by Sultan Ala' ud-Din Kayqubad to preach in Konya, where he became famous. The mausoleum in Konya is the final resting place of Rumi and other important members of the Order, and also serves as the headquarters of the Mevlevi Order. The museum covers a large garden and important buildings include the Rumi Mausoleum, the Mevlana Family Mausoleum, a mosque, and a seminary. The Rumi Mausoleum was built in 1274 and is a magnificent structure, with the blue-tiled tomb tower being a major feature. The whole museum has a high artistic value and deep historical significance.
