Orange Island Head

Chairman Mao's poem "Changsha in Spring" describes Orange Island in the heart of the Xiang River in downtown Changsha, which is a long island about ten kilometers long and an important scenic spot in Changsha. During the republican period, it was a gathering place for foreign white-collar workers (since 1904, Changsha was opened as a foreign trade port, and the island had the British Consulate and Changsha Xinguan); Young Mao Zedong often came here with friends to enjoy the river and play in the water.
