The Aiguille du Midi, a peak in the Alps, is composed of needle-shaped rocks formed by glaciers. It stands at an altitude of 3842 meters and is located 8 kilometers from the highest peak in the Alps, Mont Blanc. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in the Chamonix area. It is called "Needle of Noon" because at noon, the sun shines directly on the peak of Aiguille du Midi.
The cable car was built and opened in 1955 and was the highest cable car in the world at that time. It held this record for nearly 20 years and is still the highest cable car in the world. It takes only 20 minutes to reach the summit from an altitude of 1035 meters to 3842 meters. The summit is equipped with a panoramic viewing platform (with a thrilling suspended design), a café, and gift shops. If you reach the highest point of the summit, you will be able to enjoy the breathtaking 360-degree views of the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps.
