Introduction

The Jesuit Church of La Compañía de Jesús is a colorful and magnificent church, famous for its extensive use of gilded decorations and considered one of the most luxurious and splendid churches in South America. It took 160 years to build, initially modeled after the Jesuit and Saint Ignatius churches in Europe's Rome, showcasing the classic works of Quito and South American Baroque architecture. The church's facade and stone carvings are extremely delicate, and the interior is even more splendidly decorated, reflecting the superb skills and deep religious faith of the artisans. In 2015, Pope Francis visited during his trip to Ecuador, highlighting its importance in church history. It should be noted that photography is strictly prohibited inside the church.
