There is an ancient religious city about 130 kilometers away from Cancun in the Caribbean Sea, surrounded by a 3.3-meter-high stone wall. The buildings in the city are all made of stones with carved patterns and designs. This city witnessed the prosperity of the Mayan culture in the late 14th century, and can be said to be one of the best preserved ancient cities of the Mayan and Toltec people in Mexico.
Punta Herrero
The Last Eden in the Caribbean Sea. This place was visited with Mexican friends, even the locals rarely go there because it is an undeveloped virgin land. There are no hotels or busy tourists, only a simple kitchen with a coal stove, locals' simple smiles, and delicious grilled fish.
Mahahual
Only about a 5-hour drive from Cancun, there are few tourists here, so you can enjoy your own private beach. Some restaurants by the sea allow you to sleep for free in a tent outside their doors, waking up to the sound of the waves, and having a breakfast at the restaurant while enjoying the faint smell of the ocean is a very happy experience.
Carmen Beach
Carmen Beach is a backyard for American and European tourists, which is very close to Cancun. Many unique restaurants, luxury stores, nightclubs, SPAs, and traditional arts and crafts stores gather on several main pedestrian streets, such as Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue), Avenida Juarez (Waltz Avenue), and Calle Corazon (Heart Street).
Chetumarbacara
It's less than an hour's drive from Chetumal, the capital of Quintana Roo, to Jin Tanaro, but it's a bit too far from Cancun. If three to five people travel together and happen to pass by Chetumal, they can consider having a picnic and swimming in Bacalar.
