Introduction

Greennock is a small town full of outdoor activities and surrounded by native beech forests and tall mountains, offering spectacular scenery. Lake Wakatipu and Dart River provide water activities such as jet boat and kayaking, and there are several world-class hiking trails that attract enthusiasts. Horseback hiking is also a popular activity in the area. Greennock's beautiful scenery has attracted films such as "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" for shooting. About 20 km from Greennock is a place called Paradise Town, where the beautiful scenery is eye-catching, but the origin of this name is controversial, some believe it is because of the natural beauty of the area, while others believe it is because of the paradise ducks residing here. "This is the Middle-earth world I have always dreamed of." Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) praised the scenery of Paradise Town like this.
