Introduction

Oamaru, located on the South Island of New Zealand, was once one of the most important ports in the 19th century. With economic development, people began to use the abundant local limestone to build various large buildings, including offices of banks and import-export companies. These buildings are exquisitely decorated and known for their classic elegance. Now, many historic buildings have been transformed into facilities such as cafes, art galleries and shops, becoming the Oamaru Victorian Precinct, a treasure trove left over from the 19th century that has made Oamaru famous as "The Whitestone City." Every mid-November, Oamaru hosts the Victorian Heritage Festival, one of the grandest and most famous cultural festivals in the South Island and even in all New Zealand. Visitors can enjoy wonderful performances, explore historical relics, and experience the city's rich historical and cultural atmosphere. Oamaru is a great place for sightseeing and photography, especially during the Victorian Heritage Festival.
