Introduction
Located 60 kilometers north of Cairns, Port Douglas has an open zoo where visitors can stroll through its three main parts: wetlands, rainforests, and grasslands. Walking along wooden boardwalks, tourists can get up close to the animals, and even feel the birds flying freely overhead.
This zoo is also the only place in the world where black-necked storks have successfully bred and is a great place to observe kangaroos. Additionally, visitors can take photos with koalas and small crocodiles, and have breakfast with parrots.
Feeding times are scheduled every day, with rainforest feeding times at 9:30 and 13:00, and wetlands feeding times at 10:10 and 13:40. Koala introductions and photo times are scheduled at 9:30, 10:30, 13:00, and 14:15, while reptile introductions and photo times are scheduled at 11:00 and 14:45.
