Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was established in 1928, making it the first koala sanctuary in Australia. Its motto is "The Earth is not just for humans," reflecting its advocacy for harmonious coexistence and understanding between humans, nature, and animals. Located in the suburbs of Brisbane, it is the largest koala park with 130 koalas. The park provides a natural and close-to-nature environment, making it an ideal place for many tourists. Queensland is one of the two states (the other being South Australia) that allow koala cuddling. You can cuddle the adorable koalas here and take photos with them at an additional cost. A photo with a koala is an essential experience at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is located by the river and can be reached by a 35-minute drive from the city center. It is home to over 130 species of koalas, as well as kangaroos, wombats, and kangaroos. Koalas are extremely adorable, and many tourists are willing to pay AUD 16 to hug and take photos with them.
In addition to koalas, this semi-open wildlife park is home to over 80 species of unique Australian animals, such as echidnas, wombats, and kangaroos. In the gift shop, you can easily feed them by spending a few dollars on food, and colorful birds will fly into the palm of your hand to eat.
Travelers can participate in various activities within the sanctuary, such as watching sheepdog performances, taking close-up photos with snakes and crocodiles, and feeding parrots and baby kangaroos. Cuddling koalas up close is undoubtedly the most popular activity here. If you want to get a photo of yourself cuddling a koala, you need to pay AUD 18 first. After paying the fee, you can also take photos with your own phone or camera to capture the memory.
