Introduction

The Warrior Temple in Chichen Itza is based on the design of the B Temple in the Toltec capital of Tula, using Maya architectural techniques to make it even more magnificent than its prototype. The Warrior Temple is a stepped pyramid topped by a stone building, initially roofed with wood and stucco and with interior pillars carved in the form of warriors. The top of the pyramid's steps leads to the entrance of the temple, which houses a statue of the Chac Mool altar.
