Introduction

Palazzo Reale di Milano has been the seat of the government of Milan, Italy for many centuries. Today, it is an important cultural center, hosting various fairs and exhibitions such as 2015 exhibitions of artwork by Marc Chagall and Vincent van Gogh. From April 15 to July 19, 2015, the Palace hosted a comprehensive exhibition titled "Leonardo 1452-1519," which explored the artistic achievements of Leonardo da Vinci. This exhibition was not only the most important and influential exhibition during the Milan Expo, but also one of the largest exhibitions about Leonardo in Italy. Originally designed as a two-courtyard building, part of Palazzo Reale was demolished for the construction of the Milan Cathedral. The Palace is located on the right side of the Cathedral's main facade and is itself a building composed of courtyards. Its facade faces the Royal Small Square (Piazzetta Reale) and together the building and square form a concave shape.
