Introduction

The Medici Chapel, also known as the Chapel of the Medici Family, is one of the two expanded buildings of the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence, built and used exclusively by the Medici family in the 16th and 17th centuries. The sculptures here include Michelangelo's famous works "Day", "Night", "Dawn" and "Dusk", which are part of the Medici family tomb. The chapel is divided into two parts: the New Sacristy was designed by Michelangelo, and the larger Prince's Chapel was designed and built in the early 17th century by the family and architects. This family chapel provides a valuable historical and cultural heritage for people to understand the Medici family and the Renaissance era of Florence.
