Introduction

Walk about 200 meters north and you will reach Golden Gate. On the way, you will pass the National Shevchenko Opera House. According to historical records, Golden Gate was built around 1020, the same year as the completion of St. Sophia's Cathedral. Originally named South Gate, it was damaged during the Batu Khan's invasion and later collapsed due to lack of repair. Its ruins were excavated in 1832. The modern government rebuilt the Golden Gate and a section of the ancient city wall on the original site, and also established a park and a museum. In addition, the Knight House, a four-story brick cone-topped residence located at 1 Yaroslaviv Val Street west of Golden Gate, is also worth visiting.

Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербург), established in 1703 on the marshland at the deepest point of the Gulf of Finland, showcases Peter the Great's ambition in its architectural style and natural landscapes. In the past 300 years, the city has undergone several name changes, from Leningrad to Petrograd, and now Saint Petersburg. Its fate has also been tumultuous, including experiencing the White Terror, enduring a 900-day siege, and witnessing the heroic defense during the Great Patriotic War. Its brilliance has never been overshadowed by gunfire or bloodshed. After protection and reconstruction, it remains "open, inclusive, and romantic"
