Introduction

The Nordic Museum was founded in 1873 and is located on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden. Its founder, Arthur Hazelius, collected a large number of cultural and ethnographic exhibits from Sweden and other Nordic countries, showcasing the history and culture of Scandinavia from 1520 to the present. Originally named the "Scandinavian Ethnographic Exhibition," the museum was renamed the "Nordic Museum" in 1880. While Hazelius focused on collecting peasant culture, later managers tended to showcase exhibits related to middle-class and urban life, leading to changes in the museum's collection, which now includes various furniture, clothing, toys, and more.
