Introduction
10 Vorkhonsky Lane, Irkutsk, is the former residence of Sergei Vorkhonsky and the location of the Decemberists Museum. The Decemberists were the most distinguished descendants of the Russian nobility who organized a revolution and established the local government of Irkutsk after the October Revolution. The museum was established in 1985 and is situated in the former residence of Duke Sergei Vorkhonsky, whose wife Maria was the prototype for the protagonist in Kristin Satherland's novel "The Siberian Duchess." The building is located in the courtyard and each exhibit has its own historical significance, including Sergei Vorkhonsky's pipe and portrait. In addition, the museum also houses medals awarded to Sergei Vorkhonsky, who was decorated with the Golden Sword and promoted to the rank of Major General for his role in the major battles of the Patriotic War of 1812. The museum also preserves numerous valuable items and documents related to the Decemberists, vividly depicting their lives of hardship and exile in Siberia.
