Introduction

The Irkutsk Regional Museum is one of Russia's oldest museums with a history of over 200 years, since its establishment in 1782. Initially, it was just a room of the local library, but later it was handed over to the East Siberian Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, and collections of artifacts were developed. The museum holds over 50 exhibitions each year, showcasing the material and spiritual life of Siberia, the Far East, Korea, and Mongolia. It has a collection of over 30,000 items related to Central Asian ethnography and over 100,000 unique archaeological artifacts. The natural history department also exhibits various plants and animals from East Siberia, including a scaled-down model of Lake Baikal. Additionally, there are specialized departments showcasing research and contributions to the development of the Asian continent, as well as a museum dedicated to the creative legacy of the renowned Russian writer, Raspoutine. The museum's rich and diverse collection attracts numerous visitors.
