Introduction

The General's Office, located in Quanzhou, Fujian province, was originally built during the Ming Wanli period as a private study of Huiyuan Xuxie. Over time, it was taken over by the Qing Dynasty's troops in the Kangxi period and converted into the office of the general. The current General's Office is a four-in-one, two-corridor Minnan-style courtyard that incorporates styles from both dynasties. It retains traditional layouts such as the main gate, main hall, auxiliary hall, and side rooms. Inside, visitors can admire various cultural relics of the office and explore the underground prison where prisoners were held. Outside, an ancient and flourishing banyan tree grows in the courtyard of the General's Office, seemingly recounting the years gone by.
