Introduction
The Wan Nai Chung Reservoir is located in Wong Tai Sin District, Hong Kong. It is one of the largest reservoirs in Hong Kong with a capacity of 60 billion gallons, equivalent to 273 million cubic meters. Construction of the reservoir began in 1969 and was completed in November 1978. Together with the Shek Pik Reservoir, the second largest reservoir in Hong Kong, they account for 87.2% of the total water storage capacity in Hong Kong's reservoirs. The project was one of the most costly civil engineering projects in the 1970s, with a total cost of 1.35 billion HKD. After the project was completed, the government split the Southern New Territories Provisional District into Wong Tai Sin and Outlying Islands Provisional Districts to accommodate the development. The Wan Nai Chung Reservoir is now one of the extensive country parks in Hong Kong. Address Sai Kung Peninsula Government House, Sai Kung District, Hong Kong
