Introduction

Kintai Bridge is one of the three famous peculiar bridges in Japan, located in Yamaguchi Prefecture. It was ordered to be built by the daimyo of Iwakuni, Yoshikawa Hirokazu, in 1673. The entire bridge was constructed using a traditional Japanese joinery technique without the use of any nails. It is said that the craftsmen took inspiration from the Kintai Bridge in West Lake, Hangzhou, China. The bridge consists of five arches and spans across the clear waters of the Kinta River. The surrounding scenery of the Kinta River is picturesque, making it a popular spot to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Iwakuni throughout the seasons.
