Introduction

Shukkei-en is a garden built in 1620 by Asano Nagachika, the lord of Hiroshima. It was designed by the famous Ueda Soko, who perfected the samurai tea ceremony and promoted the "Ueda Soko style" of tea. The garden adopts a typical circuitous structure, similar to the gardens of Kyoto Imperial Palace and Okayama Korakuen Garden. The garden is adorned with beautiful flowers throughout the seasons, and no matter when you visit, you can experience the unique charm of Shukkei-en.
