Introduction
San Cristóbal Castle is a fortress full of Spanish influence located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is one of the largest defense facilities built by the Spanish to resist ground-level attacks. Completed in 1783, this 27-acre castle was designed to protect all of San Juan. However, after more than a century of peace, approximately one third of the defense facilities were destroyed to alleviate traffic congestion. The castle is situated on the hill of Cerro de la Horca, which was renamed San Cristóbal Hill to commemorate the victory over English and Dutch invasions. The view overlooking San Juan and the coastline from the top is breathtaking. Inside the castle, there is a spacious square showcasing the weapons of Spanish soldiers and ancient military exercises held on the third Sunday of every month. This is one of Puerto Rico's must-visit attractions. Address Capilla Del Cristo Chapel in San Juan, Puerto Rico
