Introduction

Seongsan Sunrise Peak, located at the eastern end of Jeju Island, is named for its castle-like appearance. Surrounded by mountains and the sea, it offers breathtaking views, especially during sunrise, and is known as the top natural attraction in Jeju. The most popular spot for tourists is the Seongsan Sunrise Peak, where many Chinese tourists enjoy hiking. The green vegetation on the mountain gives a refreshing and pleasant feeling during spring and summer. In fact, the peak is a volcanic crater covered with dense green vegetation. Visitors can also enjoy symbolic dance performances by haenyeo (female divers) at the foot of Seongsan Sunrise Peak. The peak was designated as a local natural monument on July 19, 2000, and was listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2007.
