Introduction

The mausoleum, built in 1557, is the burial site for the Saadian dynasty, including Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur (1578-1603). It was occupied by Sultan Moulay Ismail (1672-1727) during the Arab dynasties, who destroyed the Badi Palace but left the mausoleum intact. It was discovered in 1917 and later restored and opened to the public. The mausoleum features vibrant mosaic and intricate carvings, showcasing its beauty. It has three main rooms, with the most famous one being the central room, where Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur and his descendants are buried. The room is adorned with exquisite decorations. Additionally, the mausoleum has a garden where around 100 soldiers and their entourage are buried, representing the soldiers of the Sultan.
