Introduction

The Yangtai Palace, located at the southern foot of Huagai Peak in Wangwu Mountain, 30 kilometers northwest of the city, is named for its high altitude. In the 15th year of Tang Kaiyuan (727 AD), Emperor Li Longji ordered Taoist Sima Chengzhen to choose a suitable terrain in Wangwu Mountain and establish this Taoist temple. In the 23rd year of Kaiyuan (735 AD), the Taoist temple was completed. The Yangtai Pavilion has five floors and three pavilions, and is a model of palace architecture. Moreover, Emperor Xuanzong personally inscribed the "Liaoyang Palace" plaque, and had his sister Princess Yuzhen go to the mountain to learn Taoism. This news shocked the court and the public at that time, and also helped promote the development of Taoism.
