Introduction

The Mara River is 395 kilometers long with a catchment area of 13,504 square kilometers, flowing through Kenya and Tanzania. The river originates from the rainy mountainous region in Kenya and never dries up even during the dry season. During the rainy season from March to June, the river rises rapidly and its flow can be more than double its normal volume. Every year, the Mara River becomes a crucial route for the migration of wildlife, connecting the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, which is one of the world's famous wildlife migrations. During the river crossing, the animals not only face the fast-flowing water but also the threat of crocodiles lurking beneath, creating a spectacular event known as "The Crossing" or "The Paradise".
