Introduction

Wanquan River, formerly known as Baiquan River, is a river in the southeast of Hainan Island, China. Its two sources are the Nanzhi Lehui Water and the Beizhi Ding'an Water, with a main stream length of about 109 kilometers, originating from Nanling in Wuzhishan Linbei Village. After the convergence of the north and south at the mouth of the river, it is officially called Wanquan River, which eventually flows into the South China Sea. The total length of the river is about 163 kilometers, with a drainage area of about 3,683 square kilometers. The upper reaches of the river are high mountains and steep ridges, flowing through deep mountain valleys, while the lower reaches gradually widen and the water flow becomes gentle. The mouth of the river is shaped like a gourd, about 100 meters wide, while the port is narrow and shaped like a giant pair of pliers. Most of the river floods are caused by typhoon rains, and the largest flood peaks usually occur in July each year. In addition, the navigable length of the river channel is about 73 kilometers.
