Introduction

When visiting Mount Tai, it is customary to first visit the Dai Temple. The Dai Temple is the most complete and largest ancient architectural complex preserved on Mount Tai. In ancient times, it was the site of imperial ceremonies for the worship of the god of Mount Tai. The Fengshan Ceremony was an important religious rite performed by emperors on Mount Tai, and it is a colorful page in China's history during its heyday. The Dai Temple houses a large number of sacrificial vessels, offerings, crafts, Mount Tai classics, and Daoist scriptures used by emperors to worship the god of Mount Tai throughout the dynasties. It also has 184 inscriptions and 48 Han portrait stones, the most famous of which is the Qin inscription, the third largest stone forest in China after Xi'an and Qufu. The Dai Temple adopts the architectural style of an imperial palace, and is the highest-specification temple building in China.
