Introduction
Qufu city is located in Jining City, Shandong Province, China. The Three Confucian Sites in Qufu, including the Confucius Temple, Confucius Mansion, and Confucius Cemetery, are symbols of Chinese Confucian culture and have always been representative places for commemorating Confucius and promoting Confucianism. These three ancient architectural complexes were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.
The Confucius Temple is a temple dedicated to worshiping Confucius and is one of the most representative ancient architectural complexes of Confucian culture. It is known for its long history and well-preserved condition and is one of China's three major ancient architectural complexes, alongside the Forbidden City and the Chengde Mountain Resort. The main building of the Confucius Temple, the Dacheng Hall, is also known as one of the "Three Great Halls of the East."
The Confucius Mansion, originally called the "Yansheng Duke Mansion," was the official residence of the descendants of Confucius. It is widely recognized as one of the most complete and oldest aristocratic estates. Its architectural style fully embodies the characteristics of traditional Chinese architecture and Eastern residential houses, thus being known as the "number one mansion in the world."
The Confucius Cemetery is a dedicated burial ground for Confucius and his family. It is also known as the "number one cemetery in the world." Its large scale, long history, numerous tombs, and good preservation conditions make it unique in the world and an important cultural heritage in China.
