Introduction
Taoli Garden is a Qing Dynasty building built during the Xianfeng period. It consists of a main hall and a courtyard and was once the residence and private school of the Hu family, a merchant from Anhui. The main hall has three parts, three rooms, and two floors, with the first two parts being two sets of three rooms facing each other. There is a unique well on the top floor that provides ample light and ventilation throughout the house. In addition, the wooden railings on the upper floor are designed with a "Miss Blind Date Hole" for young women to quietly observe the young men coming and going from the house to see if they are the ones they admire. The second and third parts are separated by a pink wall, and there is a door connecting them with a stone inscription that reads "Taohuayuan Li Renjia". The small door leading to the street is inscribed with the three characters "Taoli Garden", meaning "peaches and plums all over the world".
