Introduction

Narrowly defined Western Grand Canyon is located in the Western Grand Canyon Hot Spring Scenic Area of Shuifu City in Yunnan Province, about 32 kilometers from Yibin City in Sichuan Province and 4 kilometers from Shuifu City. The Jinsha River flows through Shuifu towards Jiaba with the mountain elevation exceeding 500 meters, creating a thrilling canyon known as the "Jade Mountains", "Rapid Rapids", and "Dangerous Water" in the Jinsha River Valley. Broadly defined Western Grand Canyon refers to the thousands of miles of canyons in western China, stretching more than 1,300 kilometers from Qiaojia County to Shuifu City in Yunnan Province. It is like a winding giant python crawling on the Yungui Plateau, descending from the Qiaojia Dayao Mountain at an altitude of about 4,040 meters to the Gunkanba at Shuifu at about 267 meters, with a depth of 2,040 meters and a width of 50 to 2,000 meters at the bottom. This is a large canyon full of exploration and tourism, including multiple national forest parks and national nature reserves, such as Luohanba and Tongluoba. It also has famous scenic spots such as Daguan Huanglian River Waterfall Group and Xiaocaoba, as well as Dousha Ancient Town Shimen Pass, a towering first pass to Yunnan, and the world's largest wintering habitat for black-necked cranes - Dashanbao National Park and the former site of the Weixing Zaxi Conference, among other red tourism attractions.
