Introduction

The Round Tower in Yongding is one of the oldest, most stair-filled, and structurally unique buildings. Jiqing Tower is composed of two circular structures. Each unit in the outer circle has stairs from the first to fourth floors, and the entire tower is divided into 72 independent units by 72 staircases and wooden boards separating each level's passageway. Rooms, stairs, and partition walls are constructed with cedar wood, without the use of any iron nails. However, it has withstood nearly six centuries of wind and rain with only slight leaning, while the load-bearing system's 2-meter-thick earthen walls remain standing.

Transportation

Xiamen - Xiayang Town: The long-distance bus station on Hu Bin South Road in Xiamen runs direct buses to Xiayang from early morning around 6:00 am to midday at 12:30 pm. The bus route passes through Xiamen - Zhangzhou - Nanjing - Xiayang, taking a total of 6 hours.
