Introduction

Shanhaiguan City is a square-shaped plain, east of the city attached to the Great Wall, the city walls are built with blue bricks and filled with rammed soil. There are four city gates in the city, east, west, south and north, respectively known as "Zhendong", "Yingen", "Wangyang" and "Weiyuan". There are three water gates distributed in the southeast, southwest and northwest corners for releasing accumulated water in the city. The east gate of Shanhaiguan City is known as the number one pass in the world. There are also two camps located at the north and south ends of the city, the Muyinglou and Linlou, which are used for garrison defense. These two towers have two floors each and a total of 20 arrow windows.
