Introduction

The archway built in the eighth year of the Qing Dynasty's Tongzhi era (1869) was built to commemorate the loyal ministers Wang and her daughter-in-law Liu of the Zhou dynasty. Wang worked hard to raise her son, and Liu was devoted to her mother-in-law until her old age. They also raised the descendants of the Zhou family and educated them, becoming a good story. The emperor praised them for embodying filial piety and moral integrity and called them "supporters of righteousness in Guizhou". The carvings on the archway's crossbeam are the rich and exquisite "Two Dragons Grabbing Treasures", and the beams and pillars of the plaque have a "Lotus Flower Picture" engraved on them, hanging five dragon pictures and the words "Imperial Edict". The middle pair of doors read: "The blood and sweat have been shed for eighty years, and the waist has been wrapped in sweets for the sake of leaving behind the lonely and loyal white jade; enduring frost and sharing the cold many times, and taking the brush to paint the morals of the Qingcheng people", with a profound meaning.
