Introduction
The former residence of Zhou Enlai is located at 7 Fuma Lane, Chuzhou District, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, which is a historical and cultural city. It was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council on January 13, 1988, and was named as a "National Patriotic Education Base for Primary and Secondary Schools" by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Cultural Heritage, Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the General Political Department of the PLA in 1996. In 2005, it was also honored as one of the "Top 100 Red Tourism Classic Scenic Spots" in the country. The former residence consists of two connected courtyards, which were built during the Xianfeng and Guangxu periods of the Qing Dynasty. The houses are low-rise structures made of green bricks, tiles, and wood, with a total of 32 rooms. Zhou Enlai was born and grew up here, and studied until the age of 12. The East Courtyard was the residence of Zhou Enlai's grandfather, stepmother, and wet nurse, and it was also Zhou Enlai's birthplace, study room, the well where he fetched water, and the vegetable garden where he watered. The West Courtyard was originally the residence of Zhou Enlai's second grandfather and is now a display room, showcasing nearly 200 photos divided into 5 parts: Zhou Enlai's childhood, family and hometown, people's memories, inscriptions by party and state leaders, and Zhou Enlai's calligraphy and painting and inscription corridor.
