Introduction

In the ancient residential buildings of Chaozhou City, the five characters "you, stove, righteousness, prosperity, and jia" summarize its essence. These blocks are located in the southern part of the ancient city, lined up in a row, and were the gathering place for the nobles, officials, businessmen, and wealthy families of ancient Chaozhou City. They still retain the street and alley layout of the Ming and Qing dynasties and numerous ancient residential buildings. Among these courtyards, Jiadi Lane can be regarded as the essence of the essence. From the name "Jiadi", one can see that the houses here are luxurious and magnificent. Jiadi Lane is about less than 200 meters long, and dozens of Ming and Qing Dynasty mansions of various sizes are gathered here. Walking here, one can feel the time flowing backwards, touch the life breath of ancient Chaorens, and taste the remnants of history. Therefore, these streets and alleys and courtyards have become a treasure trove for studying ancient Chaozhou society, architectural art, and folk customs. Since the Southern Song Dynasty, as the political center of Chaozhou City moved southward and the commercial district expanded, the southern part of the ancient city gradually became the gathering place for the nobles, officials, businessmen, and wealthy families of Chaozhou. Especially in the late Qing Dynasty, many wealthy merchants came here to build houses and gardens, prospering and thriving, and the buildings, cultural arts, and folk customs here have accumulated infinite charm under the rich commercial atmosphere of the ancient city.
