Introduction

The Quanzhou Tianhou Palace is located on Tianhou Road, Nanan District, Quanzhou City. It was first built in the second year of Song Qingyuan (1196 AD) and was originally called "Niangma Palace". It is the largest and best-preserved Mazu temple among all the Mazu temples today, still retaining some Song Dynasty components and Ming and Qing Dynasty wooden structures. In 1987, the Quanzhou Tianhou Palace was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit by the State Council and became the first Mazu temple on the mainland to be approved and announced by the state.
