Introduction

Shaohao Tomb, also known as Yunyang Mountain, is one of the famous ancient tombs in China, said to be the burial site of Shaohao. Shouqiu is the birthplace of Huangdi, the ancestor of the Chinese nation. Today, there is the Shouqiu Courtyard in front of Jingling Palace and the Shaohao Tomb in the back of Jingling Palace. Inside the Shaohao Tomb, there are two steles. The one on the east is called "Wanren Chou," without any text, and is extremely large in size, a giant among Chinese stone steles. Legend has it that Shaohao was one of the five ancient emperors, because he "could practice the Taihao method" and "reigned over the world with the golden virtue". He ruled for 84 years and died at the age of 100. He was buried in the Yunyang Mountain Tomb, just 30 steps north of Shouqiu.
