Introduction

Hongze Lake, located in the downstream of the Huai River in the western part of Jiangsu Province, is the fourth largest freshwater lake in China. In history, it was a shallow lake group and was called Fuling Lake. With the passage of time, it expanded into Hongze Lake due to the Huai River losing its outlet to the sea. Today, Hongze Lake is not only a large water reservoir and transportation hub in the Huai River basin, but also a production base for abundant resources such as fisheries, specialty products, and livestock products, and is known for its "rises to fight for gold" phenomenon.
