Wei and Jin brick tomb murals

Introduction

During the Wei and Jin dynasties, the Wei Jin brick tomb murals were a large-scale group of tombs. However, due to the ravages of time, most of the tombs have been looted, and now only the remaining brick wall paintings of the tomb chambers are left. These brick wall paintings played an important role in the social life of the time, recording scenes of people's agricultural life, animal husbandry, tourism and leisure, and banquets. One of the murals, the envoy painting, is particularly noteworthy. It is one of the earliest known postal courier patterns and one of the iconic images of China Post. Currently, there are over a thousand Wei Jin brick tomb murals, but only Tomb No. 6 is open to the public. The scenic area has a small museum and three underground tomb chambers, representing the owner's courtyard, living room, and bedroom. Each tomb chamber's walls are painted with corresponding murals, providing visitors with valuable viewing opportunities.
