Introduction

This former residence was once the home of Li Hongzhang, a military and political leader during the late Qing Dynasty. It is a typical example of traditional architecture in the Jianghuai region of the late Qing Dynasty, and is also one of the largest existing celebrity residences in Hefei. The building is comprised of a main gate, front hall, middle hall, and gallery with exquisite wood carvings, displaying Li Hongzhang's exhibits in each hall. The gallery is the highlight of the residence, with a "Hui" shaped wooden structure displaying "Li Hongzhang and the China Merchants' Steam Navigation Co. Ltd." on the first floor, and the girls' boudoir on the second floor. The main building's east side includes a museum introducing the Huai Army that Li Hongzhang once led, displaying historical artifacts such as armored jackets and five-colored imperial edicts from that time.
