Introduction
Yaowan Ancient Town has been around for over 2000 years. It is located at the junction of the Grand Canal and Luoma Lake. Because frequent floods bring a lot of silt, this material is very suitable for making pottery. Therefore, local people began to use clay to make bricks and tiles, which became an important way for them to make a living. The ancient town is surrounded by water on three sides and faces land on one side, located at the junction of Xinyi, Pizhou, Suining, and Suyu counties and cities. There are many natural and cultural landscapes around it, hence its reputation as "the sound of the rooster is heard in four counties", "looking east to the sea, south to the Huai River and the Si River, west to Pengcheng, and north to Mount Tai". The Grand Canal flows past the ancient town, with a width of about 500 meters. Hundreds of years ago, it was the main waterway of the country. The two main streets, Zhongning Street and Xida Street, still retain their original style. Although the ancient town is far away from the city and has not suffered from war damage, many old buildings have become ruins due to the changes of time and nature disasters, as well as the human damage during the Cultural Revolution. Fortunately, the government's rescue and protection project has begun to take effect, and many wise people have joined this cause. There are currently 834 existing ancient residential buildings, more than 20 cultural and natural landscapes such as chamber of commerce halls, ancient temples, inscribed tablets, ancient bridges, ancient locust trees, and ancient pine trees. Some experts and media have called it "the Zhouzhuang of the south and the Yaowan of the north." Address Yao Wan Town, Xinyi City, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province
