Introduction

Xiling Gorge is the most dangerous and precipitous place in the Three Gorges, known for its steepness. It starts at Xiangxi mouth in Zigui County, Hubei Province and ends at Nanjinguan in Yichang City, Hubei Province, with a spectacular view along the entire way. There are many attractions on the north bank, such as the Bingshu Baojian Gorge, the Niugan Mafei Gorge, and Quyuan's Hometown Zigui; while on the south bank there is Dengying Gorge. There are several gorges within the gorge, with numerous reefs and fast currents. Throughout history, literati such as Qu Yuan, Bai Juyi, Ouyang Xiu, and Su Zhe have left precious literary legacies here, which are still circulating today. When passing through here, it is worth admiring the magnificent and unique natural scenery.
