On July 15, 2004, FIFA confirmed that ancient Chinese Cuju is the origin of football. With strong support from FIFA, the AFC, the General Administration of Sport of China, and the Chinese Football Association, the Linzi Football Museum was inaugurated in Zibo on September 12, 2005. The museum covers an area of ​​2500 square meters, located in the center of Linzi, consisting of ten exhibition units showcasing the history of ancient and modern football with more than 150 precious cultural relics and over 300 historical images, reconstructing over 20 scenes, and fully and systematically displaying the development history of football for thousands of years and the global development trends of football. Visitors can learn from the museum how Cuju, which has influenced China for thousands of years, was originated and how ancient Chinese people played Cuju, as well as the reasons why it became the first popular sport worldwide.
