Introduction
Chengkan, formerly known as Longxi, was once part of She County, the capital of Huizhou. It is now under the jurisdiction of Huizhou District, Huangshan City (formerly Xixiang in She County). After more than 1,800 years of history, Chengkan has become one of the best-preserved ancient villages in China.
Surrounded by mountains, Chengkan Village resembles the "Kan" and "Cheng" in the Eight Diagrams, and the streams flowing through the village create a pattern similar to a yin-yang fish. The streets and alleys criss-cross like a maze, inspiring people's yearning for exploration.
Located at the foot of the Huangshan Scenic Area, a world heritage site for both nature and culture, Chengkan is five kilometers northeast of the Fuziling section of the road leading to Huangshan, 40 kilometers away from Huangshan and 15 kilometers away from Yanji town, the government center of Huizhou District.
