Introduction

Meizai Temple is located in Meizai Village, Tumoteyouqi, about 65 kilometers east of Baotou City. It is a historic Lama Temple. The temple has a large number of vivid and realistic Buddhist historical murals, which are amazing. Meizai Temple's architectural style is imitated from the Han style of Central Plains and incorporates Mongolian and Tibetan styles. The main buildings include the ancient city, the Great Buddha Hall, the Luminous Hall, the Temple of Wealth, the Queen's Temple, and the Temple of Dalai. Historical records show that Meizai Temple was first built during the Qianlong period of the Ming Dynasty (AD 1567-1572) and was the first city temple built upstream of the Tumochuan River. It has now become a national key cultural relic protection unit, and the thick city walls built around the temple witness the stories that have taken place in this land. Through exhibition pictures, text descriptions, and precious murals and cultural relics, the Meizai Temple Museum expresses the interaction and influence between Buddhism and Mongolian culture. Every year on the 13th day of the fifth lunar month, Meizai Temple holds the coronation ceremony in memory of Anda Khan's conversion to Buddhism, which is known as the Meizai Temple Fair and lasts for about a week. It integrates tourism, business, cultural performances, and attracts a large number of tourists.
