Introduction
Dengloujiao Lighthouse, built in 1890 during the 16th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign, is located at the southern end of Xuweng County in Zhanjiang City, facing Hainan Island across the sea. It is the only navigational beacon light for the Qiongzhou Strait, South China Sea islands, and the northern Gulf, and also the southernmost landmark in mainland China. In addition, the area around Dengloujiao still retains colonial-style houses built by imperial powers such as France, Britain, and Russia, attracting many tourists to visit.
Beyond being a famous historical landmark, Dengloujiao is also a picturesque destination. Climbing to the top of the lighthouse offers a breathtaking view of the vast sea and lush tropical vegetation. Coconut trees, tamarisk trees, Acacia Confusa trees, cactus, shrubs, sea grass, mangrove forests and more coexist to form a unique scenery at Dengloujiao. If you are lucky, you may even witness the spectacular "wave-blocking" landscape on the sea, a sight that will leave you unforgettable memories.
